Sheffield Utd-Stevenage

Sheffield Utd :

Sheffield United are looking for the win that will see them reaching a play-off final for the fourth time in their history, and the second time in four years. All five previous play-off campaigns have failed to result in promotion.
The founder members of the Premier League are dreaming of an immediate return to the Championship, where Steel City rivals Wednesday have already booked their place. United closed the regular season in third place on 90 points, three shy of automatic promotion, and three places and 17 points superior to Stevenage, with 23 more goals scored.
The Blades have drawn their last three matches. They lost only three home league games, the most recent being against Oldham on 3 March.
Steve Simonsen could make his 100th appearance in goal for the South Yorkshire club.
Sheffield United set themselves up in the first leg to make sure they didn’t concede and they succeeded in that venture but in front of their own fans with the tie on the line they will have to be more adventurous. Scoring goals won’t be easy for them though as they are without Ched Evans who is in prison and James Beattie who is suspended for the whole of the playoffs. Danny Wilson will hope Richard Cresswell is fit.

Stevenage :

Stevenage are participating in their second successive play-off campaign, and could become the first club to achieve three successive promotions in English senior football.
Gary Smith's side are unbeaten in seven (W4, D3), and have lost one of 15 in all competitions. They were beaten six times in the regulation away programme, whereas Sheffield United lost seven. The club finishing in the bottom rung of the play-off qualifying places, has gone on to gain promotion to the second tier seven times.
Borough are vying for a place in the Championship for the first time in their 36-year history.
Defender Mark Roberts has been on the field for every minute of Stevenage's 55-match season so far.
Stevenage have a fully fit squad to pick from in this match but they are contemplating making changes from the first leg where they looked a bit lacking in the final third. Chris Beardsley could come into the side as could Jennison Myrie-Williams who came on in the first leg. John Mousinho is another who could come in for a Stevenage side still harbouring hopes of a third successive promotion.

Preview:
Sheffield United will be big favourites to win this match and that expectancy might not be a good thing for them. They are struggling to score goals without Evans and I just fancy Stevenage will get at least a goal in this match. If they can get themselves a goal and something to cling on to they might just be able to see their way to Wembley.

Atl. Madrid-Ath Bilbao

Atl. Madrid
Suspended: Tiago
Injuries / unavailable: Silvio, Fran Mérida.
Tiago is suspended for the Europa League final after receiving a straight red card in the semi-final second leg tie against Valencia. Mario Suarez should play alongside Gabi in defensive midfield.
Antonio Lopez has been out for much of the season through injury, but is back in training once again. However, he is unlikely to feature here, though.
Silvio remains absent, and Fran Merida is cup-tied.
Diego Simeone did not rest any of his key players for the win over Malaga at the weekend as he chases fourth place in the league, so his players will only have had a few days rest before the Europa League final.

Ath Bilbao
Suspended: none
Injuries / unavailable: Xabier Castillo, Aitor Ocio.
Fernando Amorebieta faces a late fitness test after missing the draw with Getafe at the weekend, but he is expected to be make it back.
Javi Martinez will return to the lineup after missing Saturday's match due to suspension.
Llorente and Muniain are amongst those who were rested by Marcelo Bielsa and will return to the starting XI for this game.
With this game in mind, Bielsa made wholesale changes to his team at the weekend, but will recall all his biggest names as he seeks a trophy in the first of two cup finals this season.

The grand finale of the European league brings match between two Spanish clubs, which will be played in the capital of Romania, Bucharest. In this case it definitely can be said that both teams deserved the finals and that throughout the competition showed up the most. For Atletico this is the second finals in two years, because they were winners in 2010, while Athletic waits for final long 35 years.
In two league matches that were played this season, both teams took advantage of home court ,where Athletic with 3-0 was more convincing, while Atletico won with 2-1. We will say in the announcement for this match that referee is the German Wolfgang Stark.

Atletico Madrid played a great season in Europe, although to reach the European league had to play more than two qualifying rounds.
Until this final match they played 18 matches and only one time were defeat, and that was in the group stage by Udinese, and only once they drew, once again at the group stage on away game at Rennes. Thus, they realized a 14 victories and all eight in the knockout phase, which is really quite a feat.
Their opponents were not small at all, because in the row fell Lazio, Besiktas, Hanover and Valencia, so it is true statement Atletico Madrid is totally deserved in the finals. Prices paid in the domestic championship, where the goal was a placement in the Champions League, but from that there would be nothing, unless in the last round some result from other matches dont be a lucky one for them.
The problem is that even the European league “hangs” for them, so this is just an additional motive in the finals. In the last seven matches in both competitions they are unbeaten with only two draws, which cost them, the placement in the Champions League for next season.
On Saturday, Atletico with great comeback beat Malaga at home with a 2-1, and Coach Simeone played almost in the strongest compostion, approximately in the one which should be expected in Bucharest.
Due to a red card and suspension Gabi wasnt playing so Tiago replaced him, who due the same reason cant play in this final of Europe league, so their roles will be just switched. Another change from the match on Saturday could be Arda Turan in the composition, except Salvio.

Atletico Madrid probably lineup: Courtois – Juanfran, Miranda, Godin, Filipe – Mario Suarez, Gabi – Arda Turan, Diego, Adrian – Falcao

Athletic Bilbao was not so good in the European league when it comes to results, although they have played three games less in the qualifiers. They record three defeats and a draw as much, but it must be said that the Athletic had a harder and more attractive opponents in the knockout stage.
After they eliminated the Russian Lokomotiv, twice in great style beated Manchester United and then actually they draw attention to themselves. Their offensive and combinatorial game, which was compared with the game of Real Madrid and Barcelona, delighted all, and when they subsequently eliminated without any problems and Schalke, it became clear they can reach the finals.
The last obstacle was Sporting which they also “broke” with a very offensive game, and here they are in the final. And it’s not only the finale of the “Basque Pride” which expect them this month, because King’s Cup finals with Barcelona awaits them as well.
This is exactly what has allowed them to finish the season in La Liga play without imperative, because they have already secured placement in a European league next season, while the Champions League left too far for them. So in the last three rounds they are without a win in Primera and and without a goal scored, which is completely untypical for this team. Clearly, coach Bielsa has largely rested their best players, but in Bucharest they will be absolutely in the strongest composition.

Bilbao probably lineup: Iraizoz – Iraola, Javi Martinez, Amorebieta, Aurtenetxe – Iturraspe, de Marcos – M.Susaeta, Ander, Iker Muniain – F.Llorente

Prediction:
Most people expected that the Champions League would provide an all-Spanish final on the European stage this season, but both Barcelona and Real Madrid crashed out of the competition and it is the Europa League that is staging the occasion instead. Atletico are more experienced in this competition, having won it 2 years ago, but that may well count for nothing in a one-off game against another Spanish side. They did not start the season well but have finished strongly under the guidance of Diego Simeone. They are, however, not yet guaranteed a place in next seasons competition through the league, so will be extra motivated to win this game and secure their spot through that route.
Athletic, meanwhile, have performed above many people's expectations for much of the season. They memorably beat Manchester United and Schalke earlier in the competition, with manager Bielsa masterminding impressive victories in goal-filled and attacking performances. They are already guaranteed their spot in next season's competition through the Copa del Rey (in which they face Champions League bound Barcelona) so their league performances have dropped somewhat. However, they will be back to full strength and highly motivated to win the competition, so their recent failings in La Liga should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Their last 6 meetings are evenly balanced, with each side having won 3 of those 6, including a home win for each side this season. Furthermore, this will be on neutral ground, adding further unpredictability to the tie, so this really is anybody's game to win. It may well be a question of which striker can outwit the opposing defender's plans to thwart them. Falcao always has a goal in him and he could be the difference.
