After four successful years, Pep Guardiola will have a chance to end his managerial career at Barcelona the way he started it. The Catalans' dominance in Spain and Europe started with a victory over Bilbao in the Coppa Del Rey and I'm sure the players will all be motivated to give their manager a well deserved farewell. The Spanish Cup will present some consolation to both Barca and Bilbao after their respective disappointments. Barca surrendered their La Liga title to arch rivals Real Madrid and was knocked out of the Champions League. Bilbao was hammered 4-1 by Atletico Madrid in the Europa Final.
League form should count for nothing much in this cup final. Barca should dictate play as usual. Although history suggests Bilbao can lose by a big margin (3 or more goals) in a final, I don't foresee it happening to them again in this final. To overcome the handicap, Barca needs to win by 3 goals, so the 1 3/4 isn't very attractive to me. I'll go for Bilbao to lose by 1 goal or manage a draw....see more
