Two clubs that got their season off to a winning start meet in Genoa as Chievo come to visit the Luigi Ferraris. Genoa took a win from Udinese thanks to a late overhead kick from Giandomenico Mesto while Chievo needed a penalty from Sergio Pellissier in the dying moments to seal their triumph.
Gian Piero Gasperini (genoa) has a lengthy injury list to contend with. Bosko Jankovic, Chico, Houssine Kharja, Ivan Fatic, Luca Toni and Raffaele Palladino are all unable to play. In contrast, Chievo have only Marcos De Paula out.
With Toni out the key scoring threat for Genoa becomes Giuseppe Sculli. With his summer move to Inter collapsing at the death he may be suffering a hangover sulk after the two clubs failed to agree on a suitable price, conversely the bitter disappointment may drive him on to show Inter what they could have had for a few Euros more. There is no starting place for new Chievo signing Gelson Fernandes. The Swiss international arrived on loan from French outfit Saint Etienne, but we will have to wait and see whether he makes his debut from the bench in this encounter.
