Derby continued to keep their faint play-off hopes alive by taking four points from their two games over Easter. First up was a slightly disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Ipswich, followed two days later by a more satisfying 2-0 win at out-of-sorts Leeds. They’re five points off the magic sixth spot with four games remaining, although they have a poorer goal difference than those around them, so it’s probably win or bust against a Middlesbrough side who are just three points ahead of them. Steve Davies came back into the side for the Leeds game after missing the Ipswich draw through illness, and scored one of the goals. Jamie Ward could be in the starting line-up after returning from a six-week absence against Ipswich, and then being rested as a substitute on Monday.

Middlesbrough’s season has fallen apart over the last eight games, during which they’ve only picked up four points and not won a match, and slipped out of play-off contention. They lost 2-0 at home to Cardiff and 2-1 away at Hull over the Easter weekend to further diminish their chances of promotion, and a loss here would probably end their hopes for good; manager Tony Mowbray says his side need to win three out of their last four. Joe Bennett is suspended for Boro as he serves a ban for picking up 10 yellow cards, while Marvin Emnes should continue to play despite struggling with a knee problem. Close, but Derby are in better form
